Thank you, Point Place community
We had a wonderful turnout at the “Save Our Bay” meeting at Friendship Center on Tuesday, June 29. Thanks to all of you who came out to listen and express your views. The meeting, which featured representatives from the US Army Corps of Engineers, was cordial and informative.
“Save Our Bay” Public Meeting
Public Meeting Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at 7:30 pm
The Army Corp of Engineers stationed in Buffalo, NY has recently proposed the creation of wetlands by establishing dikes 2,000 feet out in the Maumee Bay directly behind the Point Place Gateway Lighthouse location and adjacent to Cullen Park. The proposed wetlands are in conflict with existing efforts, including plans that are presently in motion, to improve Cullen Park and the surrounding area. The citizens of our area have alternate plans for the area dating back to 1984.
An informational meeting concerning this proposal will be held on Tuesday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m. It will be held at Friendship Park Community Center, 2930 131st Street in Point Place
A representative from the Army Corps of Engineers will present the proposal to the community.
All area residents are invited to attend the meeting.
There is a petition circulating asking to prevent the Army Corps of Engineers from creating these proposed wetlands. You can sign the petition by stopping by the Friendship Park Community Center prior to June 29.
