Smoke detector giveaway January 14-15

The Point Place Business Association will be participating in a smoke detector giveaway on Friday, January 14 and Saturday, January 15.

The PPBA, along with Jim Mossing of SMB Construction, The American Red Cross, the Toledo Fire Department and Channel 36, in cooperation with the City of Toledo and the Friendship Park Community Center, will be giving away smoke detectors free on January 14 and 15.

The smoke detectors can be picked up at the Friendship Park Community Center, 2930 131st Street in Point Place from 10 am to 4 pm both days. There will be approximately 400-500 to be given away on a first-come basis.

Mr. Mossing stated, “If one life can be saved as a result of this, then it is worth it.”

Please direct any questions to Jim Mossing at 419-269-1473 or Gary Anderson at 419-726-4663.

Banquet on January 19

Members and guests are invited to the annual PPBA banquet on Wednesday, January 19. The event begins at 6:00 pm and is being held at the Ottawa River Yacht Club on Edgewater Drive. The program will include jazz music by the trio Blue Water, and solo music by singer Craig Black. Dinner will be catered by Kelly’s Catering.

Season’s Greetings!

The members of the Point Place Business Association would like to wish all the residents of the Point & Shoreland Community a very Merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous New Year.  Thank you for supporting our local businesses through out the year.

The PPBA decorates the Point Place community for the holidays and throughout the year.  Unlike small towns or large cities, there is no money for decorations or flowers in our community from the city treasury.  Just like the flowers every Spring, the holiday decorations along Summit Street are provided by the Point Place Business Association.

The American flags are owned by Flags for Point Place but the holiday flags are provided by the PPBA.  Thank you to Howard Pinkley and Flags Sales and Repair for putting up the flags and holiday banners on Summit Street & Ottawa River Road.

Thank you to the Point Place & Shoreland Garden Club who do the flowers along Summit Street every Spring and the Christmas trees and wreaths during the holidays.  A special thank you to Cathy & Gary Rochte and Bob Kneisley and their crew for doing the decorations and lights at the Point Place Gateway Lighthouse.
