Anchors of the Community Memorial

AnchorsOfCommunity
The Point Place and Shoreland communities now enjoy a new landmark known as “The Anchors of the Community Memorial”, a name coined by District Six City Councilwoman Lindsay Webb. The project was originally suggested by attorney James Nowak as a memorial to recognize past outstanding area leaders as well as to garner bequests supporting our local Legacy Community Foundation.

Past community leaders are memorialized with inset engraved pavers much like those presently surrounding our Gateway Lighthouse located on North Summit Street. The new memorial is located just north of the Lighthouse.

The monument is designed to celebrate the nautical theme of our communities. It commemorates past community leaders who have provided significant community service with engraved pavers embedded in the granite sundial design on the monument perimeter. The pavers will be available as bequests in honor of decedents of area families in the near future.
