Paul Frederickson, 1936-2012

Paul Frederickson

Paul R. Frederickson, 75, a beloved resident of Point Place, peacefully entered into heaven on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 while surrounded by his loved ones. Paul was born on December 13, 1936 in Detroit, MI to James E. and Bonita A. (Richardson) Frederickson; both have preceded him in death.

Paul served in the Army National Guard, and his country is forever grateful for his courage and sacrifices. He was the proprietor for Frederickson’s Greenhouse from 1982 till 2001. Paul belonged to many organizations and very worthy causes; no one could ever claim that he was idle in any way. He belonged to the P.P.B.A. (Point Place Business Association), Toledo Harbor Light Preservation Society, Point Place Heritage Society, Toledo Zoo, and served as the Grand Marshall in the 2011 Point Place Days Parade.

Paul was awarded the Anchor Award in 2011 recognizing him for his many contributions to the community. He is one of the many reasons Point Place is the “Best Place Any Place.”

He is survived by his nieces and nephews; Ruth (Tom) Williamson, Nancy (Ken) Kredo, Joseph (Nancy) Frederickson, Susan (Gary) Owens, and James (Sue) Frederickson; 3 grandnieces and 2  grandnephews; brother-in-law; Arthur Love; his most devoted friend, Rita Barborich; dear friend, Mike Gootee; and “Inky.” Paul was also preceded in death by parents; sister, Vivian Love; along with his brother and sister-in-law; James and Mary Lou Frederickson.

Visitation will held on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 2-8 pm at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., (419.726.1583). The funeral Service will begin on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 10 am in the funeral home with Pastor Mike DeLong officiating. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to; Hospice of NWO, Toledo Harbor Light Preservation Society, c/o Toledo Harbor Light Society, 1750 Park Rd #2, Oregon, Ohio 43618, or Point Place Scholarship Fund. “Real joy comes not from ease or riches or from the praise of men, but from doing something worthwhile (Everyday).” Sir Wilfred Grenfell (1865-1940). These were the very words that were engrained into the person of Paul R. Frederickson.
